Why Rosie's Book?

While growing up, I had a dear friend, Renee, that lived next door and with whom I spent much of my childhood. We grew, in different directions, and went on our merry way. Many years later, I ran into her parents and they kindly reminded me of the laughs they still have over my book. “What book?” I wondered with a puzzled look. "I don't remember a book." Hardy laughter accompanied their response. At some time during our childhood, I tried to convince Renee about something that her parents didn’t agree with. I told her that proof of its truth could be found “in my book.” Naturally she went home and tried to convince her parents of the same thing but they weren’t falling for it. She needed an edge and told them emphatically, “It’s in Rosie’s book!” After they caught their breaths from reborn laughter, they let me know how “Rosie’s book” has been cited for many other things throughout the years. They’ve also mentioned that they’d like to see “Rosie’s book” one day. I can’t remember all of the things that I said were in “my book” but I’m sure my dear friend’s parents can recall much more than I ever knew about – LOL!!! So, here it is . . . my version of things you might find In Rosie’s Book . . .

Elisabeth Bell's Fire Flies Digi Bells' Blog Hop

To celebrate the newest addition to Elisabeth Bell's Digital Gallery (here), the Digi Bells Design Team is hosting a blog hop.

How can you win your own Fire Flies digi image? You'll have to hop through and leave comments on EACH blog. [You can find the full list of 12 other blogs at the Digi Bells Design Team blog (here).] Lynda will pick 2 blogs at random and the winners will be picked from those comments. The hoppers will have until Friday, June 28, 2013 at 9 AM to leave comments. The winners will be posted at the Digi Bells' blog on Saturday, June 29, 2013.

Reminder: Buying then sharing digital images is theft. Sharing digital images takes income away from the artist.

I do not want my delay in posting my photos showing how I've used Elisabeth's newest Fire Flies digital image to interfere with your participation in the blog hop.  So please tell me how much you love this new image and hop along.

edited 6/27/13 to add photos and products list . . .

I've used the newly released Fire Flies digital stamp by Elisabeth Bell on a side-open card.  This view shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.

This image stirred up so many fond memories of my childhood with my favorite cousin.  My being just 9 weeks older than him and our mothers being close sisters, my cousin and I grew up very close too.  We spent a lot of time playing batman and batgirl, running around with kitchen towels tucked in the back of our shirts to fly as our capes.  We used to make the coolest bunk bed forts, play cowboys and Indians, cops and robbers . . . oh the list goes on and on.  Catching lightening bugs, as we called them, was also a favorite past time.

I expect that I'll send this card along to my dear cousin to tell him how much he means to me.  Rather than overload the card with flowers, I thought it would be fun to add fireflies.  Without dies made for fireflies, I did my best to replicate their look using tools I had in my craft room.

I used a QuicKutz mini dragonfly as my base.  A McGill 1/8" circle punch provided my orange head.  I cut a piece of a QuicKutz light bulb from a holiday light string die included in the QuicKutz 2008's Jolly gift set to add the rounded lighted body.  Sakura's black Gelly Roll marker provided my insect's dotted eyes and their moonlight orange Gelly Roll marker adds the outline color to their wings.  A touch of yellow Stickles adds a bit of sparkle for the light and Copic atyou Spica in gold provides the look of insect body sections.

Black Bazzill and bright green cardstock layered with The Paper Patch's Bright Posies, Bright Dots and Bright Jumbo Posies form my card.  A few Recollections black mini brads and handmade Fire Flies are my only embellishments.  A Stampin' Up! Ticket Corner Punch shapes my image.  A JoAnn ScrapEssentials Word Stamp from 2005 provides my simple sentiment.

I've left the inside blank as I expect I'll need plenty of room to share my thoughts with my dear cousin.
