Why Rosie's Book?

While growing up, I had a dear friend, Renee, that lived next door and with whom I spent much of my childhood. We grew, in different directions, and went on our merry way. Many years later, I ran into her parents and they kindly reminded me of the laughs they still have over my book. “What book?” I wondered with a puzzled look. "I don't remember a book." Hardy laughter accompanied their response. At some time during our childhood, I tried to convince Renee about something that her parents didn’t agree with. I told her that proof of its truth could be found “in my book.” Naturally she went home and tried to convince her parents of the same thing but they weren’t falling for it. She needed an edge and told them emphatically, “It’s in Rosie’s book!” After they caught their breaths from reborn laughter, they let me know how “Rosie’s book” has been cited for many other things throughout the years. They’ve also mentioned that they’d like to see “Rosie’s book” one day. I can’t remember all of the things that I said were in “my book” but I’m sure my dear friend’s parents can recall much more than I ever knew about – LOL!!! So, here it is . . . my version of things you might find In Rosie’s Book . . .

Card Art with Copics: Sweet Pea Stamps' Always

I've made some time to play with this fabulous mermaid, designed by Ching-Chou Kuik for Sweet Pea Stamps, named Always.

Here's a closer view of the lovely mermaid, with her long and overflowing hair, as she rests on a slice of moon that's she has lovingly decorated with hanging hearts.

Ching-Chou Kuik's Always rubberstamp image comes on a sheet with sentiments, phrases and quotes.  I've included this quote by Roy Croft . . .

I do enjoy making my own punched flower clusters to include on my projects.

I've layered some of Basic Grey's Sweet Threads Spring Tote patterned paper with some Bazzill cardstock to form my card.  A Letterpress nesting circle die cut frames my image.  Bits of Say It In Crystals rhinestone swirls are my only other embellishment.

Here's the pic of my completed card front showcasing Sweet Pea Stamps' Always image by Ching-Chou Kuik.

Crafts and Me Stamps Challenge: Pink and Sparkly

The digi design team over at the Crafts and Me Challenge Blog wants to see your Pink and Sparkly creations.  Crafty Ribbons is sponsoring this challenge and a randomly selected entry will receive a package of yummy ribbons.  You can find out more about this challenge and the sponsor here.

I've printed this lovely Autumn fairy image, designed by Sara Burrier for Crafts and Me Stamps, onto Bazzill Smooth White and filled her using my Copic colors.  I've painted Diamond Stickles over her wings and full length scarf for a special glimmery effect.

I've die cut some of the scraps from my card using the Memory Box Small Pinwheel Posie die to form my rolled flowers cluster.  A KI Memories Posh rhinestone fills each flower center and a bit of Diamond Stickles covers them for added sparkle too.

A sheet of Wild Rose Studio "Spring Fling" is layered over Bazzill cardstock to form my card.  A Spellbinder's Postage Stamp die cut frames my image and adds a background layer.  A piece of Bazzill's Just the Edge cardstock strip adds a threading ribbon border for my Satin Sensations 5/8" light pink ribbon and full bow.  I've included a lovely sentiment from a Close to My Heart "Say It In Style" set.  A Spellbinder's Heartfelt Creations Belle Rose die cut is layered with Prima's Say It In Crystals swirl gems and a few Creative Memories nesting heart punches to form a side border.

I'm so happy to have accepted an invitation to participate in this month's challenge as a Guest Designer at the Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge blog.  You can find out more about this challenge and see the fabulous work of the EB's World wonderful Digi Bells here.

This photo shows my Copic-filled digi image called Lots of Love by Elisabeth Bell.  This sweet little boy is overjoyed to give his loving Mother a bouquet of beautiful flowers!  Flower Soft in three green tones (Christmas Green, Green and Light Green mixed) and a fuschia tone add fabulous dimension to this wonderful bouquet.

This cluster of flowers is formed by layering some punched paper flowers covered with Diamond Stickles . . .

I've created my card using some dark and light pink Bazzill textured cardstock. A hint of heart patterned paper from KaiserCraft's Love Notes Collection "Promise" adds a splash of background color. A Martha Stewart lace heart border and Memory Box Cupid Heart and Serafina Heart die cut add intricate design to the sides of my image. A piece of a Cheery Lynn Heartland America Large heart doily provides a sweet hearty addition. A few heart brads, swirls of pink and clear rhinestones and a 7/8" Offray light pink satin ribbon bow with a dangling heart charm make loving supportive accents. A wonderful Hero Arts sentiment provides appropriate text support.

Here's a view of my completed card front showcasing Elisabeth Bell's Lots of Love image . . .

Card Art with Copics: Elisabeth Bell's Peek A Boo

This warmly dressed snowman, large enough to hide the little girl peeking from behind him, is a stamped image called Peek A Boo and was designed by Elisabeth Bell for Belles 'n Whistles.

This view shows part of my Copic-filled image:

I've used a bit of Bo Bunny's Snowfall Collection patterned paper to layer with my Bazzill cardstock to form my easel card.  A die cut of the Cheery Lynn Designs Waltzing Matilda Lace Doily along with a Spellbinders' 2011 Snowflake Pendant form background layers.  My Mind's Eye Holly Jolly twine is tied throughout various buttons and Offray 1/8" navy ribbons forms double bows.  Prima Say It In Crystals and snowflakes from various punches add a bit of bling and detailed embellishments.

This view shows my card front . . .

Simple Card Art with Die Cuts: Spellbinders Labels Three

I've continued working on a previous challenge presented to me to prepare cards showing use of Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Three dies.  I do love using these shaped dies for layering and matting with my rubberstamp and digi images.   There's so much that can be done with these 6 graduated dies!

I've used some of the neutral-toned patterned papers by Basic Gray with coordinating Bazzill cardstock colors.  I left the cards simple to allow the addition of more embellishments and sentiments later.

Take a look at the eight different but coordinated A2-sized cards I've made using the Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Three that we'll be putting together at my January Spellbinders Nestabilities - Let Us Count the Ways - Labels Three class at the Scrappers Cove in Milltown, NJ.

These cards emphasize embossing without cutting, adding layers and frames to side-open and tent cards and more.

I look forward to sharing my love for Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Three by showing just some of the ways this wonderful and versatile product can be used in papercrafting projects.

You can find examples of how I used the Spellbinders Labels One dies here and Labels Two dies here.

Here's a view of my Copic-filled image:

A bit of Bo Bunny's Gabrielle Collection in spots and stripes layers my Bazzill cardstock.  A Cheery Lynn Designs Heartland America Large doily die provides a loving touch while a Fiskars Treading Water punch adds a soft border.  The lovely sentiment is from Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection Stuff to Say.

Simple Note Card Folder Set with Silhouettes

Crafts and Me Stamps has recently released several amazing digital silhouette fairy stamps.  They're beautiful images that can easily be resized to provide wonderful consistency within a card set that's perfect for gift giving!  What a fabulous way to share handwritten notes with magically enchanted cards.

To create my folder, I cut a 12x12 sheet of Bazzill brown to 11 1/2" x 8 1/2" then with the long side of the paper horizontally, I scored a vertical line at 5 1/2" and 6".  I scored another line 2 1/2" above the bottom edge.  I made a mark with a pencil along the bottom edge of the cardstock 1/2" on each side of the vertical scored lines.  I lined up the 1/2" mark with the outside intersection of the scored lines and drew a line.  I cut along the diagonal lines and removed the center too.  Here's how the outline of the folder looks now:

Score and Cut Folder Outline

I've pencil marked 3" above the bottom scored line of the folder at 3/8" from each outside edge and each center score lines.  I punched a 3/16" hole over each of my pencil marks and set 1/4" large eyelets with the backs of the eyelets facing the inside of the folder.  I folded at the score lines to form the folder and creased each fold with a bone folder for a nice, crisp crease.  A 2" length of super strong 1/4" redline tape is added to the outside vertical edges of the flaps only.  (Do NOT adhere tops or diagonal edges of flaps.)  Here's how the folder looks now:

Add eyelets for threading ribbon

Adhere the folder flaps to the bottom outside edges.  Using a 30" length of 5/8" satin ribbon, begin to thread the ribbon through the eyelets.  First through the top of the right side of the front cover (ribbon shows inside folder), through the underside of the left side of the front cover (ribbon shows outside of the folder's binding edge), through the bottom of the left side of the back cover (ribbon shows inside folder) and finally through the top of the right side of the back cover.  There's enough ribbon to hold A2-sized cards and envelopes in place when they're inside of the folder and to tie a nice big bow on the outside of the folder's side.

Completed folder ready for decorating

Now the folder is ready to decorate!!!

I've used Fairy Friends to decorate the folder cover . . .

Fairy Friends

Basic Gray's neutral toned decorative patterned papers provide simple layers for my cards.  Spellbinders Labels Three has a wonderful circular element that allows a perfect combination for a sweet and simple note card folder set using Crafts and Me Stamps newly released silhouette images.

I've added a layer of Delish Peppercorn Main Dish black and white patterned paper to my Bazzill cardstock.  A Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Rectangle frames my image.  A few McGill pine branch punches and Recollections Mulberry Paper Mini Roses form flower clusters, one of which adorns a thoughtful Penny Black sentiment.

Card Art with Copics: Crafty Sentiments Manga Jason and Eve

I've spent some time working with this adorable manga digi image that I was very lucky to receive as a prize for participating in a Crafty Sentiments Designs challenge.  Whether this young couple knew each other before this little mishap or not, they're just destined to be together.  Ahhh . . . new love.

As soon as I touched my marker tip to the paper, I realized that I'd made a big mistake and printed my digi image onto Bazzill Simply Smooth cardstock rather that my favorite Copic paper, Bazzill Smooth.  Yeah, one word can make all the difference!  Bazzill Simply Smooth is so smooth that it almost has a silky feel to it.  Copic ink will puddle on the surface as the paper can't absorb the color.  The Colorless Blender is ineffective so no highlights or other fun Colorless Blender techniques will work.  This paper behaves much like Cryogen paper and other glossy papers for me.

Rather than throw it away and start over, I decided to go with it and see what happens.  I worked through my frustration at the puddling of sticky ink in the hair and clothing then did my best to look at it in a different way.  The strokes of color are quite evident almost like the strokes created when working with heavy oil paints.  Yikes!  Even my airbrushing techniques didn't work and the color slid across the surface of the paper.

Here's a closer view of the image that shows the results of my using Copic colors on Bazzill Simply Smooth cardstock:

I've used Bazzill gray to mat Kaiser Craft Love Notes Collection "Promise" patterned paper.  A Sizzix Bigz Clear Heart die cut was embossed with a Cuttlebug Birds and Swirls folder.  A Sizzix Bigz Swirly Heart die was embossed with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.  I added a QuicKutz ShortKutz love phrase die cut to one corner.  My Mind's Eye Holly Jolly pompom trim borders the top while Zva Creative self-adhesive crystals and Petaloo Flowers add some all around bling.

The design teams over at the Crafts and Me Stamps Challenge blog are continuing their "Anything Goes" bumper challenge and today the Dynamite Digi team adds some new inspiration.  There are so many prizes that you just don't want to miss.  Get over there and add your entry for a chance to win!  You can find out more about this challenge here.

I've used a fun New Year Celebration image by Ching-Chou Kuik.  Teresa at Crafts and Me Stamps in the UK carries a wonderful selection of Sweet Pea Stamps and you can find this lovely New Year Celebration set here.  Lynette of Sweet Pea Stamps in the U.S. also has it in stock here.  The set includes this beautiful celebrating fairy image AND four sentiments:  Celebrate, Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary and Best Wishes.

Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  I've painted Diamond Stickles over the fireworks and her wings.

I used a Stampin' Up! ticket corner punch for this Celebrate sentiment that I've included from the same set:

I've had this dynamic "Fireworks" glitter paper from The Robin's Nest for nearly two years and I was thrilled to have the chance to use it with this image.  A simple ribbon bow and a few brads are my only embellishments.

Card Art with Copics: Casting Down Imaginations by Sara Burrier

This beautiful digital fairy image by Sara Burrier is named Casting Down Imaginations.  She's spreading some love as shown by the dainty hearts flowing around her.  You can find this lovely fairy at the Crafts and Me Stamps online store here.

I laughed at myself as I was drawn once again to reach for my red Copic colors. Really? Red? Still? I thought I'd be done with red by now. Nope. Not yet. LOL!!!

Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  The little hearts are covered with X-mas Red Stickles.  The green leaves over her wrists and throughout her dress and hair are covered with Green Stickles.  I've painted Diamond Stickles over her wings.  The glimmer of the image is very pretty and it's a shame that I couldn't capture it in the photos.

This loving Hero Arts sentiment seemed appropriate to use with this image:

I layered American Crafts Love Can't Help Falling tiny red hearts paper with Bazzill cardstock to form my card base.  I traced an old stencil and hand cut a large scallop border then used a small heart punch to add a heart shaped window to the center of each scallop.  A few brads, a couple of Spellbinders Shapeabilities Floral Flourishes and a bit of Prima Say It In Crystals are my only embellishments.
