Why Rosie's Book?

While growing up, I had a dear friend, Renee, that lived next door and with whom I spent much of my childhood. We grew, in different directions, and went on our merry way. Many years later, I ran into her parents and they kindly reminded me of the laughs they still have over my book. “What book?” I wondered with a puzzled look. "I don't remember a book." Hardy laughter accompanied their response. At some time during our childhood, I tried to convince Renee about something that her parents didn’t agree with. I told her that proof of its truth could be found “in my book.” Naturally she went home and tried to convince her parents of the same thing but they weren’t falling for it. She needed an edge and told them emphatically, “It’s in Rosie’s book!” After they caught their breaths from reborn laughter, they let me know how “Rosie’s book” has been cited for many other things throughout the years. They’ve also mentioned that they’d like to see “Rosie’s book” one day. I can’t remember all of the things that I said were in “my book” but I’m sure my dear friend’s parents can recall much more than I ever knew about – LOL!!! So, here it is . . . my version of things you might find In Rosie’s Book . . .

Card Art with Copics: Crafts and Me Forest Guardian by Sara Burrier

This magnificent and quite powerful digital image named Forest Guardian was created by Sara Burrier and is available exclusively through Crafts and Me Stamps (here).  I found myself drawn to the detail of this incredibly beautiful image and expect that its symbolism can spiritually touch anyone who's experienced a broken heart from the loss of a loved one through a broken relationship or death.  It can also affect environmentalists who seek to protect wildlife from building development.  To see how the Forest Guardian envelops this devastated young lady, holding pieces of her shattered heart, within his majestic, angelic wings provides such comfort and hope.

Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled Forest Guardian image . . .

I've sized my Forest Fairy digi paper (find it here), sheet 26, to 5.75" and printed it onto textured white cardstock.  I've layered it with coordinating black and fuchsia cardstock.  A Satin Sensations 5/8" fuchsia ribbon, topped with black cotton lace, creates a bottom border.

I adhered black cardstock to grungeboard then die cut the Sizzix Tim Holtz tree branch to add some dimension to my card front.  I used a Tim Holtz hitch fastener and charm clip to hang my bird charm from the branch.

A My Mind's Eye Dolled Up "Day" button and "Cute" twine are centered in my flower cluster.  A Rubberstamp Tapestry sentiment is surrounded by some Creative Impressions Small Tropical Iridescent Blossoms, Doodlebug Design boutique bubblegum brads, a couple of airbrushed paper roses, as well as Prima flowers, heirloom paper leaves pecan and a gillian raspberry flower.

I included a die cut silhouette of a buck and fawn from the Memory Box Deer Trio and a QuicKutz bunny to include the animals of the forest expressing their concern too.

Here's a view of my completed card front showing my use of Sara Burrier's Forest Guardian digital image . . .
