Why Rosie's Book?

While growing up, I had a dear friend, Renee, that lived next door and with whom I spent much of my childhood. We grew, in different directions, and went on our merry way. Many years later, I ran into her parents and they kindly reminded me of the laughs they still have over my book. “What book?” I wondered with a puzzled look. "I don't remember a book." Hardy laughter accompanied their response. At some time during our childhood, I tried to convince Renee about something that her parents didn’t agree with. I told her that proof of its truth could be found “in my book.” Naturally she went home and tried to convince her parents of the same thing but they weren’t falling for it. She needed an edge and told them emphatically, “It’s in Rosie’s book!” After they caught their breaths from reborn laughter, they let me know how “Rosie’s book” has been cited for many other things throughout the years. They’ve also mentioned that they’d like to see “Rosie’s book” one day. I can’t remember all of the things that I said were in “my book” but I’m sure my dear friend’s parents can recall much more than I ever knew about – LOL!!! So, here it is . . . my version of things you might find In Rosie’s Book . . .

Sizzix Post-it Memo Holder with Meljen's Party Time Cat

This happy-dancing, balloon-carrying, horn-blowing kitty, called Party Time Cat, was designed by Meljen's Designs' owner/artist Melissa Jenkins.  You can find this fun-loving digital image at the Meljen's online shop here.

I've printed Party Time Cat three times with the intention of paper piecing him for a lovely paper-toile effect.

This pic shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.

I adhered My Little Shoebox Just Add Butter - Bite Size cupcakes double-sided patterned papers over both sides of a piece of chipboard from the back of a paper pack then die cut it using the Sizzix Scoreboards Bigz Memo Holder die.

Here's a view of the front of my completed Post-it Memo Holder showing my use of Party Time Cat with a celebrate everyday theme.  I've attached a Tim Holtz idea-ology hitch fastener to act as a pull knob for opening.  A Darice golden jingle bell hangs from an eyelet with a jump ring.  A Doodlebug Design's braddies cuppy cakes brad with prongs cut off provides a perfectly sized jewel-topped accent.  A sentiment from a Kraftin' Kimmie Yvette stamp set provides the perfect sentiment to support my layered Party Time Cat image.  I've used the chisel tip of my Copic E57 over 3/8" white grosgrain ribbon to coordinate the handle.

You can see from this view of the back why a pattern without a right-side up or upside-down would make a better choice for use with this die cut memo holder.  I'll be more careful when selecting my patterns the next time I make one of these post-it holders.

I've used fabri-tac to adhere two 1/4" ribbon rolls to the top to secure a removable golf pencil.  First, I rolled two pieces of ribbon tightly around my pencil barrel and secured the ribbon ends with a small amount of fabri-tac.  When the ribbon rolls dried and while still around the pencil barrel, I added more fabri-tac to the back of the ribbon rolls to adhere them to the inside of the memo holder.  The pencil easily moves in and out of the rolls.

Here's how my Post-its Memo Holder looks when open . . . The Basic Grey large magnetic discs hold the Post-its Memo Holder closed tightly.
