Why Rosie's Book?

While growing up, I had a dear friend, Renee, that lived next door and with whom I spent much of my childhood. We grew, in different directions, and went on our merry way. Many years later, I ran into her parents and they kindly reminded me of the laughs they still have over my book. “What book?” I wondered with a puzzled look. "I don't remember a book." Hardy laughter accompanied their response. At some time during our childhood, I tried to convince Renee about something that her parents didn’t agree with. I told her that proof of its truth could be found “in my book.” Naturally she went home and tried to convince her parents of the same thing but they weren’t falling for it. She needed an edge and told them emphatically, “It’s in Rosie’s book!” After they caught their breaths from reborn laughter, they let me know how “Rosie’s book” has been cited for many other things throughout the years. They’ve also mentioned that they’d like to see “Rosie’s book” one day. I can’t remember all of the things that I said were in “my book” but I’m sure my dear friend’s parents can recall much more than I ever knew about – LOL!!! So, here it is . . . my version of things you might find In Rosie’s Book . . .

Card Art with Copics: Rick St Dennis Corazon

On the first Saturday of each month, Rick St Dennis posts a digital image for his fans to use on crafty projects.  The image doesn't stay there very long, in fact it seems to disappear as though it was never there at all! LOL!!!  I was lucky enough to visit at just the right moment so I'm able to show you Rick's January image named Corazon.

At first glance, I thought Corazon might be a zombie of sorts.  The way her hands are posed is a bit creepy to me.  My attempts at prettying her up still make me think she walks with the dead.  Hmmm.  The results of my google search on Corazon suggest that the word means heart or can be a Spanish term of endearment for Darling.  Ahhh, perfect!

I masked Corazon then used Tsukineko Brilliance Rocket Red ink to stamp an Inkadinkado script background.  I also added a Tattered Angels Vintage Seasons Timeless Romance cancelation stamp on the right and the word love barely shows.  I tried to heat emboss the dazzling ink with clear embossing powder but the effect is minimal.  Here's a closer view of my very softly, Copic-filled image as printed on Kraft cardstock . . .

I've die cut my image using a Spellbinders Classic Oval Large and matted her with a Spellbinders Scalloped Oval.

American Crafts Love Many Splendored patterned paper, layered with Bazzill red and kraft cardstock forms my twisted easel card.  Martha Stewart's Punch Around the Page Eyelet Lace provides a delicate border.  Dots of Stickles Xmas Red add some bling between the Fiskars handheld heart punches.  A Martha Stewart Lace Heart edge punch adds a grounding border to rest my image. A 3/8" Jo-Ann's holiday metallic red ribbon bow adds beautiful sheen to a My Mind's Eye Dilly Dally "Best" pin and Jolee's boutique dimensional stickers rose flower cluster.  The word Darling is from a My Mind's Eye 2010 Lost and Found Madison Avenue "Pretty" stamps set.

QuicKutz love letter, locket and key die cuts provide a loving accent cluster.  My handy Dymo label maker adds an appropriate sentiment.  McGill pine branches add the perfect vintage filler.

Here's a view of my twisted easel card, open and ready for display, showing how I've used Rick St Dennis' Corazon to share vintage-looking, loving wishes . . .
