Why Rosie's Book?

While growing up, I had a dear friend, Renee, that lived next door and with whom I spent much of my childhood. We grew, in different directions, and went on our merry way. Many years later, I ran into her parents and they kindly reminded me of the laughs they still have over my book. “What book?” I wondered with a puzzled look. "I don't remember a book." Hardy laughter accompanied their response. At some time during our childhood, I tried to convince Renee about something that her parents didn’t agree with. I told her that proof of its truth could be found “in my book.” Naturally she went home and tried to convince her parents of the same thing but they weren’t falling for it. She needed an edge and told them emphatically, “It’s in Rosie’s book!” After they caught their breaths from reborn laughter, they let me know how “Rosie’s book” has been cited for many other things throughout the years. They’ve also mentioned that they’d like to see “Rosie’s book” one day. I can’t remember all of the things that I said were in “my book” but I’m sure my dear friend’s parents can recall much more than I ever knew about – LOL!!! So, here it is . . . my version of things you might find In Rosie’s Book . . .

Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge: Vintage Valentine

The Digi Bells design team over at the Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge Blog wants to see your Vintage Valentine projects.  A very lucky randomly selected entry will win TWO Elisabeth Bell digi images of their choice AND a $20 gift card from Sweet Pea Stamps!  You can find out more about this challenge and sponsors here.

I've used this fantastic rubberstamp image called Be My Valentine designed by Elisabeth Bell for Sweet Pea Stamps.  You can find this lovely young boy holding his handmade heart at the Sweet Pea Stamps online store here.  Does he have a pretty little school-mate in mind that he'd like to be his valentine?  Will he give it to his mother to express his love for her?

This pic shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  I used my handy Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up a Stampin' Up! Be Mine! stamp from their older Have a Heart Set to fit perfectly inside of this little guy's heart.

My Martha Stewart's Punch Around the Page eyelet lace edge and corner set decorated my card front with a delicate edge.  A very old Fiskars hand held heart punch provided mini hearts to place around my lacey edge.  A Sizzlits vintage photo corner adorns one corner of my card front.  Layers of Bo Bunny's Timepiece Collection keys patterned paper support my vintage theme.  A bit of Offray brown gingham ribbon provides a border and bow where a Janlynn Corp Steampunk Medium Key Charm hangs from a Making Memories jump ring.  A few handmade accent daisies made from Punch Bunch punches form a bouquet on top of my bow.

Here's a view of the front of my completed card showing my use of Sweet Pea Stamps' Be My Valentine, as designed by Elisabeth Bell, with a vintage theme . . .

The base of my card, decorated to match the front, includes a handmade chrysanthemum with several oak leaves to hold my card front in place for display . . .
