Why Rosie's Book?

While growing up, I had a dear friend, Renee, that lived next door and with whom I spent much of my childhood. We grew, in different directions, and went on our merry way. Many years later, I ran into her parents and they kindly reminded me of the laughs they still have over my book. “What book?” I wondered with a puzzled look. "I don't remember a book." Hardy laughter accompanied their response. At some time during our childhood, I tried to convince Renee about something that her parents didn’t agree with. I told her that proof of its truth could be found “in my book.” Naturally she went home and tried to convince her parents of the same thing but they weren’t falling for it. She needed an edge and told them emphatically, “It’s in Rosie’s book!” After they caught their breaths from reborn laughter, they let me know how “Rosie’s book” has been cited for many other things throughout the years. They’ve also mentioned that they’d like to see “Rosie’s book” one day. I can’t remember all of the things that I said were in “my book” but I’m sure my dear friend’s parents can recall much more than I ever knew about – LOL!!! So, here it is . . . my version of things you might find In Rosie’s Book . . .

Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge and New Release: Through the Ages

I'm thrilled to participate in this fortnight's Ladybug Crafts Ink Add a Number challenge as a guest designer. It's such an honor to be invited by Head Ladybug Kerry to join the Lovely Ladybugs as a guest and perhaps earn a permanent Ladybug title!  Many thanks to Kerry and the rest of the lovely Ladybugs for allowing me to share in their excitement!  (You can find out more about this challenge and the wonderfully talented Ladybugs here.)

Today is a very big Ladybug Crafts Ink event as we're sharing a new release of Through the Ages images!  To celebrate the newest additions to the fabulous Ladybug Crafts Ink digital collection (here), the Lovely Ladybugs are hosting a blog hop.

How can you win your own Through the Ages digital images?  You'll have to hop through and leave comments on EACH blog. [You can find the full list of 10 other blogs at the Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge blog (here)].  Several randomly selected winners will be chosen from those comments.  The hoppers will have until Noon March 11th, 2013 to leave comments.  The winners will be posted at the LCI Challenge blog on or about March 12th, 2013.

When you've completed your hopping adventure, stop back at the LCI Challenge blog to tell us which of the new Through the Ages images you like the best.

Add the Through the Ages blog hop badge to your blog's side bar to share this event with others.

I've had the pleasure of working with "Billie is Five (Buttons)" to create a colorful birthday card.

I've printed my image twice, once for the base and the second to fussy cut pieces that I wanted to pop-up.  I like to fill the spaces below my pop-ups with Copic W5 for shadowing.  This view shows my Copic-filled base . . .

One of my favorite techniques that I use on teddy bears is the Nasty Rag Technique.  Here's a view of the smoothly blended teddy bear then another view of how he looks after I've pounced on him with a nasty rag swiped with Copic E47 for texture . . .

I've layered pieces of TPC Studio's Party Hearty, Birthday Candles and Birthday Wishes patterned papers with Bazzill cardstock in Rain, Cool Cantaloupe and Candy Apple to form my side open birthday card.  After adding my popped-up buttons, heart and teddy bear, I coated them with a layer of Glossy Accents for shiny dimension.  A Stampin' Up! All Year Cheer 1 sentiment is stamped directly over my airbrushed background.  A QuicKutz die cut arrow, adorned with five Bazzill walnut gems accents my sentiment.  A Stampin' Up! All Wrapped Up Accessories ladybug stamp is colored with Copic atyou Spica Lipstick for a bit of sparkle.  A 1/4" scrapbooking celebrate ribbon bow adorns one corner.

As for further embellishments, it's been a while since I've had to think about what a five-year-old might like to see on a birthday card, so I sought input from my dear husband.  His immediate response was "money."  Ok, so I asked if he could think of anything else and his response was "more money."  LOL!!!  So my card for a five-year-old remains lightly embellished.  LOL!!!

Here's a view of my completed card front showcasing Ladybug Crafts Ink Billie is Five . . .

The inside is decorated similar to the front and includes a Sweet Stamps Special Birthday stamped sentiment as well as another fussy cut ladybug.

Remember to leave your comment below then move along to your next stop at the wonderfully-talented Sue's blog (here).  For reference, you can find the full list of the blogs to hop at the Ladybug Crafts Ink challenge blog (here).

This is a great card. I love the bear. I have tried that technique, but it didn't go nearly as well as yours did.
