Card Art with Copics: Elisabeth Bell's Little Miss Mouse

This lovely little fairy is happy to find her sweet little mouse friend passing by as they share a daily greeting.

I've used Elisabeth Bell's digital image, Little Miss Mouse, on a side-open card to share some magical and encouraging words.  Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image with a light coating of Star Dust Stickles painted over the fairy's wings and the rose on the hat of the little mouse.

I've temporarily adhered die cuts from a My Favorite Things Die-namics Cloud Trio set, airbrushed around them, then removed the die cuts to add dimension with Copic colors W1, W0, W00 and 0.

My handmade flower cluster includes Punch Bunch large, medium and small daisy punches.  Creative Impressions Bits of Bling white pearls sit in the flower centers.  Star Dust Stickles, lightly painted over my punched daisies, adds wonderful sparkle.  A few McGill pine branch punches add nice filler for my white netted and jeweled wire butterfly to flutter from.  An iridescent ribbon bow, made from a ribbon that I saved from a holiday candy box, helps to tie my flower cluster to the Spellbinders Floral Doily Motifs die cut.

Layers of Bazzill Olive, Rain and Cool Cantaloupe cardstock with patterned papers from Kaiser Craft's These Days Collection "Reunion" and "Generation" provide the base for my card.  A Memory Box Charlotte Border adds a delicate touch to the top and bottom of a center block surrounded by faux stitching.

Card Art with Copics: Ladybug Crafts Ink Grow Old With Me Wrinkley

Ladybug Crafts Ink carries a fabulous line of clear stamp images designed by Julia Fryer called The Wrinkleys. Many of us can relate to this elderly couple and the sentiments included with Mr. and Mrs. Wrinkley will surely make you smile as you're reminded of some of your favorite people.  I've used Grow Old With Me Wrinkley to share loving thoughts on this Valentine's Day twisted easel card for a very special someone.  You can get your own Grow Old With Me Wrinkley clear stamp set, complete with three sentiments, here.

I wanted to begin the sentiment near my image and continue it on the base. I considered snipping apart my clear stamp sentiment then decided against it. Instead, I placed scotch tape over the words I wanted to hide, inked my stamped, removed the tape and voila! Only the words that I wanted to show appeared exactly where I wanted them! Yay!!! My Copic Multiliner 0.03 came to the rescue to darken spots where the ink was slightly faded.

I've die cut my image using an older Sizzix Bigz Clear Die Heart then offset a pink and red die cut. I adhered Wyla polyester pleated lace to the back for a soft and delicate touch.

Bo Bunny's 2010 Crazy Love double-sided patterned paper, layered with brown, red and pink cardstock forms my twisted easel card.  A glitter brad from a Bo Bunny's Crazy Love brads set sparkles in one corner.  A 5/8" Satin Sensation Chocolate bow adorns the other corner.

A Lifestyle Crafts pocket tag from a Tag It Kit holds the second part of the clear stamp sentiment quote.  A heart from a Sizzix Eyelet Washers #1 die holds bits of Offray 1/8" pink and brown ribbon.  Part of a Be Mine! stamp from an old Stampin' Up! set of Have a Heart stamps peeks out from a tag insert.  A Happy Valentine's Day! sentiment from JustRite's Cling Elizabeth O. Dulemba's Just Ducky set marks the bottom border of my card base.  My flower/berry cluster consists of:  Fancy Pants Designs 2007 Handmade Posies Harvest crocheted flower topped with a Recollections mulberry red rose; Petaloo Dazzlers glitter flowers; Stampin' Up!'s felt Flower Fusion Too; JoAnn Store's berries; Punch Bunch mini sun and small dusty miller leaf; and large oak leaves.

My 2012 Blog Year In Review

I spent some time looking through my 2012 blog posts and I think that my blogging shows continued improvement.  I began the year as a slightly-experienced blogger and in September of 2012 I gladly accepted the opportunity to become more involved as acting challenge coordinator at the Crafts and Me Stamps challenge blog.  I've expanded my interests in papercrafting and continue to be inspired by you uber-talented artists who show work that I've come to know and love.  Some of my favorite 2012 occasions and projects are included below.  Oh I do cherish basic card art but it's especially fun and exciting to see fancy folds and other projects!  Hmmm . . . it also appears to me that I hold my classically-shabby style - LOL!!!

There are five individual cards shown below so I enter this post in Debbie's My Favourite Five of 2012 for a chance to win her fabulous favorite things candy.  (You can click on each pic to link to the posts for more details.)

In January, I dabbled with silhouette images that are growing in popularity for ease of use as I created this simple note card set with folder.  I was also thrilled to join Elisabeth Bell's Digi Bells as a guest design team member.

February shows my use of the lovely silhouette fairies with their houses made of digital papers . . .

I prepared one of these windowed candy gift boxes for each holiday guest in April.

In May, I added this fun USA-themed card in support of our Olympic competitors.   I was also jumping up and down with the thrill and honor of being officially named a Digi Bell!

In August I gained my 200th Follower!

In September I added my first round side-step card . . .

. . . and first flip z card . . .

I was thrilled to accept a guest design team spot at Ladybug Crafts Ink in October.  I also love the delicate presentation of these lacy-edged cards . . .

Of course I was excited the play along with the Do You Stack Up design team as their guest in November.  I also think that this silhouette fairy is the perfect addition to this holiday gift bag . . .

I had to add a swinging easel to the back of my first spring-fold card to hold it up . . .

November's Happy Mail calendar book will remind me to send Happy Mail to loved ones all year round . . .

These post-it note holders made wonderful and practical December gifts . . .

These cracker boxes are loads of fun to make too . . .

It's been another wonderful year in papercrafting and blogging.

I am ever grateful for your kind words, encouragement and inspiration throughout 2012.

This photo shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  Flower Soft's Polar White covers the furry parts of her coat and hat.  Martha Stewart snow glitter covers the ground.  There's a bit of snow glitter on top of her hat and the mailbox too.

I've layered Bazzill purple with Bazzill Bling blue textured cardstock.  A Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page Skylands Snowflakes punch provides a delicate border.  A Spellbinders Nestabilities Postage Stamps die cut shapes my image while a couple of white snowflake eyelets sit on each side.  Creative Memories 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" circle punches shape my layered Just Rite Spring Words sentiment accented with an Offray 1/4" ribbon bow.  Bits of Prima's Say It In Pearls Mixed Crystals swirl around my card front and base.

I've covered chipboard with white self-adhesive felt then used the Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Winter Wonder Bigz die to cut my big, white, fluffy snowflakes.

Holly's Happy Mail has touched me and become much more than the name of this wonderful "grown up" image. It's a moving CONCEPT and she stands proudly on the cover of my new handmade calendar pocket book to oversee my newfound commitment to send HAPPY MAIL to friends, family and other special people who have made a difference in my life. This is a very special image from Elisabeth's vault and I hope that you'll find as much joy in her as I have.

I really wanted to bring her to life with paper-piecing and paper toile.  This pic shows the pieces I've used.  I used Copic N6 to shade over the areas of Holly that I planned to add pieces over.

Here's a side view of my paper-pieced (some popped up) Copic-filled image covered with a layer of Glossy Accents for further dimension.

I layered Bazzill cardstock over both sides of medium weight chipboard before diecutting with a Stampin' Up! Sizzix Bigz XL Curly Label Movers & Shapers A2 size card die.  I cut the resulting diecut in half so I could use each side as a different page.  A Zutter Bind-it-All 1 1/4" silver coil binds my pages.  My Dymo label maker easily provides the perfect customized sentiment! Here's the cover showing the fun label-shaped window . . .




Layers of glittery patterns from the My Mind's Eye 2010 Lost & Found Union Square, Market Street, Madison Avenue and Portobello Road collections decorate the inside pages of my tent-style pocket calendar book.  The latest Graphic 45 Place In Time Calendar Foundation sheet forms my pockets.  A Sizzix original red Super Traditional Tag die shapes my pocket insert tags that I've identified using Just Rite's Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn Words sets.  An Offray 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon acts as a pull-string so I can easily remove my note tags.

My attempts at keeping this project thin were for naught as my choice of medium weight chipboard and knotted ribbon in each tag resulted in a rolodex style Happy Mail reminder calender.  That's OK with me!  LOL!!!  Much to my surpise, it stands on its own now and I didn't try to do that - LOL!!!  This photo shows my completed pocket date book where I've used Elisabeth Bell's newest digital image named Holly's Happy Mail  . . .

Card Art with Copics: Elisabeth Bell's Apple Bake

This lovely digital image called Apple Bake was designed by Elisabeth Bell and released in June of this year.  You can find her at the Elisabeth Bell digital gallery here.

This pic shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  A die cut from a Lifestyle Crafts Large Circles set shapes my image.  I've let the tail of her apron flow off the circle by using the "Beyond the Edge" diecutting technique.

 



I've layered We R Memory Keepers Anthology "Phraseology" (circles/text) and "Harmony" (stripes) double-sided patterned papers with Bazzill Java and Mexican Poppy cardstock to form my card.  A handmade flower adorns a sentiment from Just Rite Stamps' Summer Words set.  A few Robin's Nest Dew Drops pull some color into the opposite corner.

Crafts and Me Stamps carries a wonderful line of fantasy art images designed by Hannah Lynn.  I've used Sharlotta on a multi-layered card to share my gratitude.  You can find this image as a rubberstamp here.

I've layered Pink Paislee Vintage Vogue Collage patterned paper with Bazzill Bling pastel cardstock.  Spellbinders Labels Five shapes my image.  Creative Impressions black mini brads accent each corner.  Surrounding my image and Just Rite Spring Words sentiment, you'll find paper flowers handmade with layers of a variety of Punch Bunch punches. Each of my handmade, color-coordinated gerber daisies, asters, coneflower, chrysanthemum and blossoms are lightly painted with Diamond Stickles for amazing sparkle.
