Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge: Sketch

I've used this sweet rubberstamp image called Sharing in Your Sorrow designed by Elisabeth Bell for the Whiff of Joy's Sympathy Collection.  You can find this lovely but sad young lady and her frowning little puppy companion at the Whiff of Joy online store here.

This pic shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.

I've layered Bazzill cardstock with We R Memory Keepers Anthologie patterns to form my easel card. A Spellbinders Ironwork Accents die cut provides my rounded corner element. Faux stitching borders my layers.  A brown wrinkled seam binding bow lies below a Close To My Heart Say It In Style set sentiment.  Memory Box white pearl sticker strips are lined at each end of my striped border.  A Junkitz Mom Buttonz white fabric button tied with silver cord accents one corner.  Zva Creative rhinestone swirls add bits of bling around my image.  Handmade flowers, lightly painted with Star Dust Stickles, are made using Punch Bunch daisy and birch leaf punches and hold Creative Impressions white pearls in their centers.  McGill pine branch punches add nice filler to my flower clusters.

The base of my card shows a silver metal praying angel, QuicKutz arrows die cuts, and a feel better sentiment from a Hero Arts Huge Hugs set.  Another white fabric button tied with silver cord adorns a corner with a small cluster of handmade flowers.  A bit of Zva Creative rhinestone swirls adorns the opposite corner.

Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge: A Different Fold

I've used this fantastic rubberstamp image called Christmas Dance designed by Elisabeth Bell for Whiff of Joy.  You can find this lovely little dancer with her sentiment at the Whiff of Joy online store here.

This pic shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  I hand cut the diamond shape using the "Beyond the Edge" technique to allow her foot to hang over the edge.

Layers of K&Company Tim Coffey Holly Vine Flat glitter patterned paper with textured red and smooth metallic brown cardstock form my spring-fold card.  A Memory Box Holly Vine provides a classy, leafy swirled border topped with McGill punched pine branches and handmade layered flowers.  Xmas Red Stickles shimmers as berries throughout the diecut vine and her dress.  A few blue jewel strips line the sentiments.  Three mini jingle bells hang from a blue metallic mini clip to accent the wonderful sentiment that comes with the Christmas Dance stamp.

I've noticed that some cardmakers glue the bottom triangle to the base of their spring-fold card for support.  I prefer to use that space for adding a sentiment or a handwritten note.   In that case, I adhere a 1 1/4" wide x 4 1/2" long, layered, simple swinging easel to the back for stability.  See the end of this post for a look at how the swinging easel works.

 

This pic shows how the card looks when lying completely open and flat for a better view of the base where I've used a sentiment from Artful Legacy. A 3/8" metallic blue ribbon bow is topped by a couple of Punch Bunch holly leaf punches and layered kikyou flowers.

Card Art with Copics: Whiff of Joy Confirmed Melinda

The current challenge over at Whiff of Joy Challenges is about combining Aqua, Pink and Cream.  Simon Says Stamp! is offering a very generous $25 gift certificate for use in their store.  Find out more about this challenge and their sponsor here.

I've inked up my 2010 Whiff of Joy "Confirmed Melinda" guardian angel by Elisabeth Bell and stamped her onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White.

This photo shows a close up of my Copic filled image.  I've painted some Diamond Stickles over her wings.

I've used a word from the Tim Holtz' Stuff to Say set, added a charm clip and a My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose Hattie "Happy" Bits and Pieces star charm.  I've used punches to create some coordinating shimmering flowers.  This photo shows a close up of the embellishment cluster.

I used my Distrezz-it-All for tearing the edges of Bazzill aqua, pink and ivory bling.  I've also added a distressed edge layer of KI Memories Posh Vineyard.  A Fiskars read between the vines Border punch adds flowers to one edge.

Card Art with Copics: Whiff of Joy Willow with Hot Chicken Soup

The Whiff of Joy challenge blog is celebrating their 100th challenge by giving away prizes for randomly selected "anything goes" entries and comment love left along their design team's inspiration blog hop.  A random entry of this challenge will be chosen for a $25 credit voucher for the Simon Says Stamp store.  There's an extra very generous prize package from Katharina of Whiff of Joy.  More prizes are sprinkled throughout the design team's blogs.  Find out more about this challenge celebration here.

I've inked my newly acquired Whiff of Joy Elisabeth Bell's Willow with Hot Chicken Soup from the Get Well Collection.  Here she is filled using Copic markers . . .

I've chosen Copic colors to coordinate with the Bazzill olive, dark and light browns as well as the Basic Grey max & whiskers mittens/max patterned paper.

I've used a Fiskars read between the vine Border and Corner punch, some Prima leaves and flowers using Creative Impressions White Mini Brads for flower centers.  A little Marvy Uchida Opaque Paint Marker in Gold surrounds my image.  I've added an appropriate sentiment from a 2008 Stampin' Up! Best Yet set.

Chicken soup always makes me feel better.  I'm sure it would be an extra comfort to have this lovely Willow card accompany a caring portion of get well wishes.
