Why Rosie's Book?

While growing up, I had a dear friend, Renee, that lived next door and with whom I spent much of my childhood. We grew, in different directions, and went on our merry way. Many years later, I ran into her parents and they kindly reminded me of the laughs they still have over my book. “What book?” I wondered with a puzzled look. "I don't remember a book." Hardy laughter accompanied their response. At some time during our childhood, I tried to convince Renee about something that her parents didn’t agree with. I told her that proof of its truth could be found “in my book.” Naturally she went home and tried to convince her parents of the same thing but they weren’t falling for it. She needed an edge and told them emphatically, “It’s in Rosie’s book!” After they caught their breaths from reborn laughter, they let me know how “Rosie’s book” has been cited for many other things throughout the years. They’ve also mentioned that they’d like to see “Rosie’s book” one day. I can’t remember all of the things that I said were in “my book” but I’m sure my dear friend’s parents can recall much more than I ever knew about – LOL!!! So, here it is . . . my version of things you might find In Rosie’s Book . . .

Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge: Anything Goes

The current challenge by the Lovely Ladybugs over at the Ladybug Crafts Ink TLT Challenge is Anything Goes. Hop over to enter your project for a chance to win TWO cling stamps (or FOUR if you use a Ladybug Crafts image!). You can find out more about this challenge and the wonderfully talented Ladybugs here.

There is also a new release of 16 sweet Billie Bear images, designed by Jan White exclusively for Ladybug Crafts Ink. You've got to hop over to the challenge blog to see how the Lovely Ladybugs have shown their use of several of the newly released images!

I've used the recently released Window Seat Billie as designed by Jan White to create a set of four seasonal cards.  I had tons of fun playing with this all-purpose image and my head is still spinning with ideas on more ways to use it.  You'll have to visit again soon to see how I've used Window Seat Billie for my Spring, Summer and Autumn cards. This post contains the info on my Winter card.

I printed the image onto the smooth side of a sheet of Bo Bunny's Snowfall "Snowfall Hot Chocolate" then fussy cut and carefully placed the new drapes to carry out my winter-theme.

I used three different masks to add color and texture to my image.
1.  I cut out just the window glass areas to stamp a winter tree scene from an old Stampin' Up! A Tree for All Seasons set.  I also used this mask to airbrush the ground, sky and a bit of sun light.
2.  I cut out just the bear to add texture using the nasty rag technique by pouncing Copic colored fibers of a piece of wash cloth over the Copic-filled bear.
3.  I cut out the full image to airbrush the wall areas and floor.

This view shows my Copic-filled image for a winter-themed card.  Glossy Accents covers the hearts and Inkssentials Enamel Accents black provides shiny, dimensional eyes.

Layers of Bazzill cardstock with Bo Bunny's Snowfall "Snowfall Wintertime" glitter paper form my side open card and faux stitching adds a contrasting border.  Satin Sensations 5/8" Island Blue ribbon provides a border and bow.  A safety pin through the bow holds a metal gold snowflake with a jump ring through the pin's loop.  A Spellbinders Medallion Four adds a circular element behind my image.  A Technique Tuesday Borderline: Same Time Next Year set adds my stamped winter words.

A My Favorite Things Die-namics Fancy Flourish provides movement behind my flower cluster made of a Recollections Mulberry Paper Flower and a Petaloo Flora Doodles Mini Florettes For the Guy set.

Here's a view of my completed card front showcasing Ladybug Crafts Ink Window Seat Billie that includes a popped up hello sentiment from a Hero Arts Sparkle Clear Simple Messages set . . .

The inside is decorated similar to the front and includes a blank sheet to include a handwritten note . . .

I think I've just managed to pick myself up off the floor after you sent me the finished images Rose...they are fantastic. I love the scenes through the window (it was one of my favourite SU! sets which I recently sold on ebay doh!) and the paper pieced curtains. Your whole card is beautiful and can't wait to see the other seasons xx
