I've used this sweet little witch on a side-open card.  Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image with Golden Rod Stickles painted over the moon and Star Dust Stickles over the ghosts.  My image is shaped using Lifestyle Crafts large circles dies.

A bit of We R Memory Keepers Black Widow paper pack patterned paper is layered with Bazzill cardstock in black, sage and rust.  A 15/16" sheer gold metallic ribbon and black pointed cotton lace forms a border to ground my image.  An iridescent orange/black sheer ribbon bow is my only embellishment.

Card Art with Copics: Elisabeth Bell's Bell Horses - Li'l Cowboy

This playful little fellow, with his tussled hair, is ready to gallop alongside his toy stick horse.  You can find this wonderful Bell Horses - Li'l Cowboy digital image at Elisabeth Bell's Digital Gallery here.

I've used Copics to fill my Li'l Cowboy image.  The stamped sentiment is from a Technique Tuesday Pieces of the Puzzle clear stamp set.

We R Memory Keepers Anthologie patterned paper is layered with Bazzill cardstock to form my card.  All layers have been inked with a Charcoal Color Box cat's eye ink pad.  I've kept this card very simple with just a few mini black brads as embellishments.

This little barefoot sweetie checks the temperature of a shallow Spring puddle as she carefully lifts her dress so as not to get it wet.

Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  I've attempted to add some light reflections in the water.  My Favorite Things Die-namics Cloud Trio set provides my clouds.  Yellow Stickles cover the headband and flower centers.

Patterned papers from a Lilly Bimble collection included with the February 2013 issue of Quick Cards magazine, bordered with faux stitching, are layered with Bazzill cardstock to form my side-open card.  An American Crafts "Spring" ribbon is layered with Wyla pleated white lace and a Martha Stewart Skylands Snowflake edge punch to form a grounding border and also forms my ribbon bow.

 

My image is shaped with an older Sizzix original red Super Scallop Tag.  A Close To My Heart Pair-a-Phrase sentiment is popped up on the front and continues through to the inside of my card.  A handmade accent blossom made from a small flower Punch Bunch and mini suns sets over my stamped sentiment.  An older Sizzix original red Eyelet Washers #2 flower reinforcement is set at the top of my tag, holds a We R Memory Keepers large eyelet in baby blush pink and is tied with an Offray 1/8" mini dot bright yellow ribbon.

 

Spellbinders Floral Flourishes, layered with Want2Scrap Maxxi Girl Jumbo silver rhinestone swirls provide movement at the sides of my image.

The inside supports the front and shows the continuation of the Close To My Heart Pair-a-Phrase stamped sentiment.  A Close To My Heart Treasures "sunshine" stamp adds Adirondack Dye Butterscotch ink color to the bottom of my tag.

I've used this sweet rubberstamp image called Sharing in Your Sorrow designed by Elisabeth Bell for the Whiff of Joy's Sympathy Collection.  You can find this lovely but sad young lady and her frowning little puppy companion at the Whiff of Joy online store here.

This pic shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.

I've layered Bazzill cardstock with We R Memory Keepers Anthologie patterns to form my easel card. A Spellbinders Ironwork Accents die cut provides my rounded corner element. Faux stitching borders my layers.  A brown wrinkled seam binding bow lies below a Close To My Heart Say It In Style set sentiment.  Memory Box white pearl sticker strips are lined at each end of my striped border.  A Junkitz Mom Buttonz white fabric button tied with silver cord accents one corner.  Zva Creative rhinestone swirls add bits of bling around my image.  Handmade flowers, lightly painted with Star Dust Stickles, are made using Punch Bunch daisy and birch leaf punches and hold Creative Impressions white pearls in their centers.  McGill pine branch punches add nice filler to my flower clusters.

The base of my card shows a silver metal praying angel, QuicKutz arrows die cuts, and a feel better sentiment from a Hero Arts Huge Hugs set.  Another white fabric button tied with silver cord adorns a corner with a small cluster of handmade flowers.  A bit of Zva Creative rhinestone swirls adorns the opposite corner.

This little sweetie, sitting on her steamer trunk, waits with her puppy for her adventure to begin.

Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  I've painted Diamond Stickles over the flowers for added glimmer.  Glossy Accents over the entire image adds shiny dimension.  I have used the "beyond the edge" technique with a Spellbinders Large Labels die to create the inside frame.  I've used a Technique Tuesday Jet Lag small set map stamp, inked with various Adirondack dye inks, to splash some color around my white outside frame.

A Creative Imaginations map collage is layered with Bazzill cardstock to form my side open card.  Faux stitching provides borders surrounding my layers.  A house stamp from a Crafty Secrets Home Sweet Home Large set provides a dreamy image in my frame.  A sentiment from the same Home Sweet Home set supports my theme.  I've painted Peeled Paint Distress Stickles over my large labels frame for sparkling texture.

 

A warped clock charm hangs from a We R Memory Keepers gold eyelet by a gold cord in one corner in front of a bit of olive-toned ricrac.  A Making Memories Brown Outline leather corner adorns the other corner.

 

A 5/8" Forest Green Satin Sensations ribbon bow is centered in my flower cluster of mulberry paper roses, Prima sugar plum roses, chloes, pias and Petaloo dazzlers glittered florettes.  McGill pine branches and Punch Bunch small birch leaves make nice textured fillers.  A Martha Stewart punched blue butterfly covered with Star Dust Stickles flutters nearby.  Want2Scrap's Finesse Swirls in brown provide movement throughout.

 

The inside supports the front and shows an Art Gone Wild! friend sentiment stamped inside of a frame made by a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page Daisy edge and corner.

My 2012 Blog Year In Review

I spent some time looking through my 2012 blog posts and I think that my blogging shows continued improvement.  I began the year as a slightly-experienced blogger and in September of 2012 I gladly accepted the opportunity to become more involved as acting challenge coordinator at the Crafts and Me Stamps challenge blog.  I've expanded my interests in papercrafting and continue to be inspired by you uber-talented artists who show work that I've come to know and love.  Some of my favorite 2012 occasions and projects are included below.  Oh I do cherish basic card art but it's especially fun and exciting to see fancy folds and other projects!  Hmmm . . . it also appears to me that I hold my classically-shabby style - LOL!!!

There are five individual cards shown below so I enter this post in Debbie's My Favourite Five of 2012 for a chance to win her fabulous favorite things candy.  (You can click on each pic to link to the posts for more details.)

In January, I dabbled with silhouette images that are growing in popularity for ease of use as I created this simple note card set with folder.  I was also thrilled to join Elisabeth Bell's Digi Bells as a guest design team member.

February shows my use of the lovely silhouette fairies with their houses made of digital papers . . .

I prepared one of these windowed candy gift boxes for each holiday guest in April.

In May, I added this fun USA-themed card in support of our Olympic competitors.   I was also jumping up and down with the thrill and honor of being officially named a Digi Bell!

In August I gained my 200th Follower!

In September I added my first round side-step card . . .

. . . and first flip z card . . .

I was thrilled to accept a guest design team spot at Ladybug Crafts Ink in October.  I also love the delicate presentation of these lacy-edged cards . . .

Of course I was excited the play along with the Do You Stack Up design team as their guest in November.  I also think that this silhouette fairy is the perfect addition to this holiday gift bag . . .

I had to add a swinging easel to the back of my first spring-fold card to hold it up . . .

November's Happy Mail calendar book will remind me to send Happy Mail to loved ones all year round . . .

These post-it note holders made wonderful and practical December gifts . . .

These cracker boxes are loads of fun to make too . . .

It's been another wonderful year in papercrafting and blogging.

I am ever grateful for your kind words, encouragement and inspiration throughout 2012.

Here's wishing you a happy and healthy New Year that's overflowing with all good things!

Card Art with Copics: Elisabeth Bell's Apple Bake

This lovely digital image called Apple Bake was designed by Elisabeth Bell and released in June of this year.  You can find her at the Elisabeth Bell digital gallery here.

This pic shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  A die cut from a Lifestyle Crafts Large Circles set shapes my image.  I've let the tail of her apron flow off the circle by using the "Beyond the Edge" diecutting technique.

 



I've layered We R Memory Keepers Anthology "Phraseology" (circles/text) and "Harmony" (stripes) double-sided patterned papers with Bazzill Java and Mexican Poppy cardstock to form my card.  A handmade flower adorns a sentiment from Just Rite Stamps' Summer Words set.  A few Robin's Nest Dew Drops pull some color into the opposite corner.

Card Art with Paper Toile: Ladybug Crafts Ink I'm Not Asleep Wrinkley

Ladybug Crafts Ink carries a fabulous line of clear stamp images designed by Julia Fryer called The Wrinkleys.  Many of us can relate to this elderly couple and the sentiments included with Mr. and Mrs. Wrinkley will surely make you smile as you're reminded of some of your favorite people.

Paper Toile is the art of making 3D pics from flat images by layering and popping up pieces of the image.  I've seen some gorgeous work done using Paper Toile with stamped images so I gave it a try with this wonderful elderly man that has fallen asleep in his chair while attempting to keep up with the local news stories.  You can find I'm Not Asleep Wrinkley here.

I stamped my image onto several pieces of scrap papers (some are from a Simple Stories Generations paper pad) with the intention of paper piecing a base for layering other popped up pieces.  I didn't add any colored shading to my pieces but I did run a black marker tip around the cut edges to keep the white paper core from showing.

Here's a closer side view of this fun Paper Toile piece showing the adhered and popped up layers with a coating of Glossy Accents over the top . . .

Layers of Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman Collection "Dressed To The Nines" patterned paper and Bazzill brown, blue and kraft cardstock form my easel card.  A border of American Crafts decorative ribbon is finished with a bow.  A sentiment from the I'm Not Asleep Wrinkley set is layered over cardstock covered chipboard and lines the side of my image.  Die cuts from a Sizzix Original red Eyelet Washers #1 die are held with We R Memory Keepers Toasty Tin Large Eyelets and include My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Union Square "Beautiful Day" twine.  A QuicKutz Checkered Goosebump embossed my corner triangle while a wonky warped clock charm hangs from a Creative Impressions mini metallic blue paper clip.

This view of the base shows how a die cut from a Sizzix Original red Manila Envelope die decorates the inside of my card.  I attached hole reinforcements and twine with eyelets for a reusable office closure effect.  This little envelope provides a secure place to store a cash gift and includes another of the sentiments that are part of the I'm Not Asleep Wrinkley set.  A hand sewn Basic Grey Colored Button acts as a stopper to hold my easel card open.

I tried to dress this playful little guy in holiday colors to coordinate with a belly-banded gatefold Christmas card.  Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled Elisabeth Bell digital image called Toot Toot! . . .

A bit of patterned paper from a Memory Box Yuletide collection shows candy canes in the background.  A Class A Peels gold victorian sticker shines in one corner.

Lifestyle Crafts Large Circle die cuts frame my image and Outlines Rubberstamps "Christmas Joy" sentiment.

A Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page Rings Combo Holiday 2009 set borders my surrounding belly band.  I covered chipboard with cardstock then used the Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Regal Crest die to border my image with a partial, circular laurel wreath.  A few McGill Pine Branch punches are layered with Punch Bunch large holly leaves that are adorned with Me and My Big Ideas bright red rhinestones for berries.

This pic shows the inside of the open gatefold card with the decorated belly band lying in front of it.  A QuicKutz die cut train lies on one side of my Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Christmas Clara sentiment, while a Spellbinders Shapeabilities Holiday Cheer candy cane lies on the other.

Simple Card Art with Die Cuts: Spellbinders Labels Seven

I've been lax with my attempts to meet the challenge that the Scrappers Cove proposed to me to create samples to show what can be done with the graduated, various shaped Spellbinders Labels dies.

Some time ago, I used some of the funky patterns and prints of the We R Memory Keepers Anthology collection with coordinating Bazzill cardstock colors.  I left the card samples simple so students could enjoy adding their own embellishments and sentiments later.

Here's a pic that shows the several A2-sized cards I made using the Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Seven that we put together during my Spellbinders Nestabilities - Let Us Count the Ways - Labels Seven class at the Scrappers Cove in Milltown, NJ.

These cards emphasize adding layers to side-open and tent cards.  Spellbinders Labels Seven has a wonderful open book look to it that can be enhanced with printed words, music sheets and special sentiments and images.

Heartfelt Creations has a number of rubberstamps that coordinate with Spellbinders Labels Seven dies.  We've used Book Frame 1 that includes a wonderful outline of an open book as well as a musical sheet showing the verses of Amazing Grace.  Book Frame 2 contains stamps of smaller open book images.  Their Holiday Poinsettia Candle set looks fabulous when fussy cut and layered.

I've used this sweet Kiki with Dolly rubberstamped image designed by Elisabeth Bell for Sweet Pea Stamps.  You can find her at the Sweet Pea Stamps online store here.  This pic shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.

I've layered chevron and circle patterned paper from a We R Memory Keepers "Red, White and Blue" stack pack with coordinating cardstock.  A bit of small white ric rac is folded over a removable tag die cut from a Lifestyle Crafts "TAG It" kit.  A bit of faux stitching and white mini brads adds a simple bordered look.  A computer generated sentiment  lies near my image.

A few glittered strawberries and punched blossoms left over from a previous project draw the strawberries from Kiki's top and hair onto my card front.  Zva self adhesive crystal swirls add sparkle.

Card Art with Copics: Hannah Lynn's Lady Liberty

This amazingly beautiful mermaid, dressed in her patriotic gear, makes a magnificent patriotic and supportive image for showing pride in the grand ol' stars and stripes.  She has been designed by Hannah Lynn exclusively for Crafts and Me Stamps and is available as a digital image (here).

Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled Lady Liberty . . .

Handmade flower clusters, consisting of punched shapes, adorn two corners of my image.  All flower petals and leaves are painted with Diamond Stickles for fabulous sparkle.  Here's a closer view of my flower cluster . . .

I've layered brand new We R Memory Keepers Red, White and Blue Stack papers with cardstock.  A 5/8" strip of Satin Sensations Cranberry ribbon provides an exciting border and bow.  A bit of My Mind's Eye twine lines up QuicKutz diamond die cuts that are folded into pennants to hold Stars and Olivia alphabet letters.  A large button, tied with twine adorns the same corner.  Here's a view of my completed card front . . .
