Why Rosie's Book?

While growing up, I had a dear friend, Renee, that lived next door and with whom I spent much of my childhood. We grew, in different directions, and went on our merry way. Many years later, I ran into her parents and they kindly reminded me of the laughs they still have over my book. “What book?” I wondered with a puzzled look. "I don't remember a book." Hardy laughter accompanied their response. At some time during our childhood, I tried to convince Renee about something that her parents didn’t agree with. I told her that proof of its truth could be found “in my book.” Naturally she went home and tried to convince her parents of the same thing but they weren’t falling for it. She needed an edge and told them emphatically, “It’s in Rosie’s book!” After they caught their breaths from reborn laughter, they let me know how “Rosie’s book” has been cited for many other things throughout the years. They’ve also mentioned that they’d like to see “Rosie’s book” one day. I can’t remember all of the things that I said were in “my book” but I’m sure my dear friend’s parents can recall much more than I ever knew about – LOL!!! So, here it is . . . my version of things you might find In Rosie’s Book . . .

I've had the pleasure of working with Can O' Blooms to create a bold and beautiful, easel card gift box.  This view shows my Copic-filled image surrounded by Stampendous Chiffon, Sage and Taupe Color Fragments mixed with Ranger's clear embossing powder.

I used my Sizzix Bigz Pro Die Box with Lid #2 to die cut Bazzill green cardstock to form my box. 1/4" red line double-sided tape is strong enough to hold the box together.  I added an additional die cut box top to form my easel card then used Best Creations Inc Circus Dots from their Circus Circus line to add splashes of bold color to my box and card.

Lifestyle Crafts Large Circles and Large Scalloped Circles shape my image.  A Cheery Lynn Designs Heartland America Large heart adds a bit of love and sunshine to an upper corner.  Whimsy Stamps Friendship Ticket Sentiments "sending hugs" is die cut with their Ticket Die.

Now all my box needs is a lovely gift, perhaps candy, and it's ready for sharing sweet and loving thoughts.

Here's a view of the completed front of my easel card box showcasing Ladybug Crafts Ink Can O' Blooms image. . .

Card Art with Copics: Crafty Sentiments Opening Presents

I've had this lovely Crafty Sentiments Opening Presents rubberstamp for quite some time and this is the first time I've inked her up.  I love how she's brought her teddy to the unwrapping of the gift as dear teddy is obviously very important to her.

Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  I've used a negative mask for the Nasty Rag technique to add some natural-looking fuzz to my teddy bear.

There's alot going on throughout the layers of this particular card and for the most part it turned out as I imagined it would.

I laid the folded half of my white paper just along the inside cut line of the Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Tag and Bookplates die so I could form my tag-shaped card.  I embossed the Spellbinders Heart Circles die to form a frame on the front of my card.  Once the embossing was done, I used the Spellbinders Large Standard Circle set to cut a circle for my window.

A piece of transparency adhered to the back becomes my window.  My handmade floral additions are made using Cheery Lynn Designs' Baby's Breath Flower Kit and Tiny Flower Kit, layered with some Punch Bunch small and mini birch leaves.  All flowers are lightly painted with a thin coat of Star Dust Stickles.

Three strips of 1/8" Wondertape are covered with Sparkle N Sprinkle's Aquamarine and Sunset glitter along with Stickles Dry Glitter in Lagoon to form my sparkling stripes at the base.

A Marvy small balloon punch acts as a tag topper with a gold eyelet and a bit of yellow ribbon tied through it.  A Close To My Heart Just a Number set sentiment is popped up above my window.

The left side of the interior shows TPC Studio Party Hearty Birthday Candles paper with a machine sewed zig zag stitch of metallic thread.  This is my first time using a sewing machine for the zig zag stitch and I have no idea how the corners are supposed to look.  I did try my best as I think the zig zag adds some pizzazz to a zesty party feeling.

My Crafty Sentiments "Opening Presents" image is stamped on the right side with a Morning Star sprinkled day sentiment just above my Copic-filled image.  A multi-striped ribbon is tied through that balloon punch tag topper.

I ran my die cut Memory Box Butterfly Chain upside down through my xyron "X" to make the front of the butterflies sticky.  I used the same glitter as I used for the stripes on the front of the card to color my sparkling butterfly border.

Because Copic inks are known to seep through the paper and will show on the back of your project, once my coloring was done, I adhered an extra clean piece of white tag to cover that bleed-through . . .

This view shows how the card front looks when the card is closed.  You get a glimpse of the lovely little lady through the window.

Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge: Witches

The Digi Bells design team over at the Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge Blog wants to see your Witches.  A very lucky randomly selected entry will win TWO Elisabeth Bell digi images of their choice AND an exclusive stamp from Whiff of Joy!  You can find out more about this challenge and sponsors here.

Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image with a few highlights added with a Sakura Gelly Roll medium White marker . . .

Layers of Bazzill Raven black and Green Bling with patterned sheets from Little Yellow Bicycle's (LYB) Frightful 8x8 tablet form my side-open card.  A Spellbinders Scalloped Circle die cut of black netting lies behind the Lifestyle Crafts Large Circle shaped image.  An EK Success Whale of a Punch Photo Corner Scallop of Doodlebug Design's black sugar paper is popped up in an upper corner.

A journaling frame from the LYB Frightful tablet, matted with black glossy paper, holds a black paper covered chipboard bat from a Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations "Bewitching Hour" die.  A few handmade flowers made from a Punch Bunch small blossom and birch leaf with a pearl center are lightly painted with Star Dust Stickles to add sparkle to the other upper corner.

A "bewitching" bracket from the LYB Frightful tablet lies beneath a bow made from Michaels' 3/8" Celebrate It black metallic ribbon and another handmade flower from a Cheery Lynn Build-a-Flower #1 die set with Punch Bunch extra large birch and medium oak leaves painted with Star Dust Stickles for wonderful glimmer.  A couple of QuicKutz digital image pumpkin vines, cut by my Silhouette electronic cutter are spritzed with Tattered Angels Creme de Chocolat Glimmer Mist to add a swirling border.

Here's a view of my completed card front showing my use of Elisabeth Bell's Little Witch with a Broom clear stamp image . . . There's amazing sparkle, shimmer and glimmer all over this card - it's a shame that I couldn't capture it in the photos.

Elisabeth Bell's Little Mama Digi Bells' Blog Hop

To celebrate the newest addition to Elisabeth Bell's Digital Gallery (here), the Digi Bells Design Team is hosting a blog hop.

How can you win your own Little Mama digi image? You'll have to hop through and leave comments on EACH blog. [You can find the full list of 13 other blogs at the Digi Bells Design Team blog (here).] Lynda will pick 2 blogs at random and the winners will be picked from those comments. The hoppers will have until Friday, May 31, 2013 at 9 AM to leave comments. The winners will be posted at the Digi Bells' blog on Saturday, June 1, 2013.

Reminder: Buying then sharing digital images is theft. Sharing digital images takes income away from the artist.

* * * * *

I've used the newly released Little Mama digital stamp by Elisabeth Bell on an easel card.  This view shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.

I've layered Bazzill cardstock with an unmarked purse and luggage patterned paper to create my card.  Faux stitching adds a contrasting border while a Wrights' 3/4" pearl lace strip border grounds my image.  Bo Bunny's Crazy Love glitter Brads line one corner of the front and base.  A digital stamp from a Crissy Armstrong Maya Blowing Bubbles Sentiment A2 Size set is printed on Paper Temptress Cryogen paper and is accented with a flower button tied with a twine bow.  Cheery Lynn Designs Mini Fanciful Flourish die cuts lie below a Recollections Mulberry Paper Flower and Mini Roses.

Here's a view of the front of my easel card showing my use of Elisabeth Bell's newest digital release called Little Mama.

I've left the base blank for placement of a stamped sentiment or handwritten note later.

This view shows my easel card, open and ready for display . . .

This playful little fellow, with his tussled hair, is ready to gallop alongside his toy stick horse.  You can find this wonderful Bell Horses - Li'l Cowboy digital image at Elisabeth Bell's Digital Gallery here.

I've recently merged two digital images using Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0 and I liked the results so much that I decided to give it another try.  (You can find my first merged image post here along with the 8 simple steps for merging).

This time I merged Art Deco Geraldine digital stamp with Hannah Lynn's A Walk In Paris background digital image to send a special greeting.  Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image.

An EK Success Paper Shapers Scallop Photo Corner punch holds a few Studio112 Pearl Adhesive Gems.  An Offray 1/8" light orange ribbon bow accents my "Bonjour" stamped sentiment from an older Stampin' Up! Carte Postale set.

A few shades of orange Recollections Mulberry Paper Mini Roses lie above a Cheery Lynn Designs Mini Fanciful Flourish.  A Wrights' 3/4" white lace with pearls borders the right side of my image.

* * * * *

I've used The Teenagers Jess Whispering Wall to create a colorful Springtime card.

This view shows my Copic-filled image . . .

Layers of Bo Bunny's Gabrielle Collection patterned papers with Bazzill cardstock form my side-open card.  I've used Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Texture Fades "Bricked" embossing folder to add texture to the matting behind my image.  Doodlebug beetle black mini brads are lined at one corner.  A QuicKutz Goosebumps 2x2 checkerboard embossed my popped-up scalloped corner.  A couple of Cheery Lynn Designs Dies in Mini Fanciful Flourish as well as an Exotic Small Butterfly and Small Angel Wing add some movement throughout.  Zva Creative Rhinestone Swirls continue that movement and add some bling.

Punch Bunch Kikyou punches in medium, small and mini are layered with mini suns and McGill's pine branch punches to create my pointy petal blossoms.  All are lightly painted with Star Dust Stickles for soft shimmer.

Here's a view of my completed card front showcasing Ladybug Crafts Ink Jess Whispering Wall that includes a spring sentiment from an older Stampin' Up! Serene Spring set . . .

The inside is decorated similar to the front and includes a stamped sentiment from a Hero Arts "So Artsy" set . . .

Card Art with Copics: Ladybug Crafts Ink Martini Nikki

Ladybug Crafts Ink carries a fabulous line of clear and digital stamp images illustrated by Allan McConnachie called Nikki & Friends.  I've used Martini Nikki on an encouraging card for a dear friend.  You can get your own digital Martini Nikki here.

Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image . . .

I've added layers of KaiserCraft These Days Collection Ancestry double-sided patterned paper to Bazzill Straw (cream) and Java (dark brown) cardstock to form my side open card.  A Cheery Lynn Designs Waltzing Matilda Lace Doily die cut adds a delicate edge.  A sentiment from a Hero Arts Clear Woodland Creatures set is stamped directly over the airbrushed background of my image.  A Basic Grey button tied with bakers twine lies in the center of a pretty bow formed by a strip of an Offray 7/8" French Block Brown and Blue ribbon.  A few more Basic Grey small buttons knotted with bakers twine adorn the other corner.

When my card is nearly complete and I'm ready to embellish, I like to use my card scraps for forming coordinating handmade flowers using Punch Bunch and other punches.  Here I've used Punch Bunch daisies in large, medium and small; suns in mini and small; small birch leaf; medium dusty miller leaf and large oak leaf.  This photo shows how I begin to prepare my flower elements for layering . . .

Here's a view of my card front that includes my layered flowers lightly painted with Star Dust Stickles for sparkle . . . How lucky was I to attend the 7th anniversary of my favorite local scrapbook store, The Scrappers Cove in Milltown, New Jersey, and find this fabulous Elizabeth Dies Lady Bug die!  Can you spot the one with open wings that is the perfect size for adding to this Ladybug Crafts Ink card art?

This view shows the inside that includes a wonderful and cheerful sentiment from a Stampin' Up! Happy Hour set.  I've lightly embellished with a QuicKutz martini glass die cut and another less poofy layered daisy to have the other Elizabeth Dies closed wing lady bug peek out from.

Card Art with Copics: Rick St Dennis Corazon

I find Rick St Dennis' digital image named Corazon a bit intriguing and so I've used her again to display on a round side step card.

Here's a closer view of my Copic-filled image . . . It's unfortunate that the amazing sparkle of the Copic atyou Spica Pink over the hearts and trimming doesn't show in this photo.  In real life, it truly does make you say "Wow!"

I've die cut and matted my image using Lifestyle Crafts Large Ovals.

My EK Success Round Curvy Cutter provided the perfect size 6" card base of Bazzill Gray and a 5 1/2" pattern of Kaiser Craft's Love Notes Collection Love Song.  A Memory Box Heart Chain Border lies at the base of my card.  Part of a Cheery Lynn Designs Heartland America Large die and Sizzlits Funky Heart #1 and #2 set behind my Target Seasonal Printed Ribbon bow.  A Prima Gillian Raspberry Flower and Petaloo Dazzlers glitter flowers add a bit of bling to my hearts cluster.  Prima's Say It In Crystals and Zva Creative rhinestone swirls add a bit of movement throughout.

You can find my previous post showing Corazon on a more vintage-looking twisted easel card here.

My 2012 Blog Year In Review

I spent some time looking through my 2012 blog posts and I think that my blogging shows continued improvement.  I began the year as a slightly-experienced blogger and in September of 2012 I gladly accepted the opportunity to become more involved as acting challenge coordinator at the Crafts and Me Stamps challenge blog.  I've expanded my interests in papercrafting and continue to be inspired by you uber-talented artists who show work that I've come to know and love.  Some of my favorite 2012 occasions and projects are included below.  Oh I do cherish basic card art but it's especially fun and exciting to see fancy folds and other projects!  Hmmm . . . it also appears to me that I hold my classically-shabby style - LOL!!!

There are five individual cards shown below so I enter this post in Debbie's My Favourite Five of 2012 for a chance to win her fabulous favorite things candy.  (You can click on each pic to link to the posts for more details.)

In January, I dabbled with silhouette images that are growing in popularity for ease of use as I created this simple note card set with folder.  I was also thrilled to join Elisabeth Bell's Digi Bells as a guest design team member.

February shows my use of the lovely silhouette fairies with their houses made of digital papers . . .

I prepared one of these windowed candy gift boxes for each holiday guest in April.

In May, I added this fun USA-themed card in support of our Olympic competitors.   I was also jumping up and down with the thrill and honor of being officially named a Digi Bell!

In August I gained my 200th Follower!

In September I added my first round side-step card . . .

. . . and first flip z card . . .

I was thrilled to accept a guest design team spot at Ladybug Crafts Ink in October.  I also love the delicate presentation of these lacy-edged cards . . .

Of course I was excited the play along with the Do You Stack Up design team as their guest in November.  I also think that this silhouette fairy is the perfect addition to this holiday gift bag . . .

I had to add a swinging easel to the back of my first spring-fold card to hold it up . . .

November's Happy Mail calendar book will remind me to send Happy Mail to loved ones all year round . . .

These post-it note holders made wonderful and practical December gifts . . .

These cracker boxes are loads of fun to make too . . .

It's been another wonderful year in papercrafting and blogging.

I am ever grateful for your kind words, encouragement and inspiration throughout 2012.

Here's wishing you a happy and healthy New Year that's overflowing with all good things!

As always, I'm so glad that you stopped by to visit!
